SONY BDP-S470

Hello there to you all.

I wonder if anyone could help me with a small problem I have just encountered with my Sony blu ray player.

I researched many players before settling with this one as I read that it was multi-regional......so to my shock and horror I have just tried to play a region 1 disc and it will not play.

I cannot see what region a BDP-S470 actually is as it is not mentioned in the specs off the Sony website.

I did see it listed as multi or else I would not have bought it (as I own may various region discs and would need a multi player to play the discs).

I am hoping that maybe I have to activate something?maybe online? to get it working with other region discs? I dont know.....lol

I look forward to any help....(but hope I havent been sold an expensive white elephant!!!!)

Hi,

you need to check with the dealer from where you purchased your unit as they should have told you that if the player is capable of multi region playback it will only play DVD's and not BLU RAY, the BDP-S470 is region locked for blu ray discs to region 2, there are "hacks" available that will unlock the players to play DVD only ,

so the bottom line is you have not been sold an expensive white elephant at all, you have just been mis-informed!.
