i have the sony s-480 blu-ray update with the latest firmware. i set the player from the manual "BD audio mix setting" to off. I connect the s480 with the sony str-2100 and play various titles with trueHD format. The display option in S480 also confirms the trueHD but the amplifier shows Dolby Digital (3/2.1). When i connect my PS3 in the same way, the sony str-2100 shows the trueHD and all is ok.
Ayone else has the same problem? Any solution?
And last how can downgrade the firmware or re-flash the current?
Thanks....
Yes I have a similar problem. My setup is with a s480 and an Onkio 605 amplifier.
Initially I had my BD connected using HDMI to the TV and the Coax digital audio to the amp. My Onkio would report Dolby 5.1 audio on DD5.1 tracks but it would report Linear PCM when playing True DH tracks.
Then I switched the cabling around and connected everything using HDMI using the amp as passthrough to the TV. I did get something that Onkio calls Direct which is the sound from the BD as it comes out.
I then realised I had the setting for BD audio mix set to on. Turning that off I my Onkio reported Dolby True DH (that was still using HDMI). I then decided to reconnect everything as it was because I don't like to keep my amp on just to watch the TV.
Once I've done that things improved but not entirely. My Onkio now reportd Dolby Digital 5.1 on True HD tracks. It looks like that the BDP sends True HD signals over HDMI but not over the Coax audio Digital cable, but it could be that my amp that can't read True HD from the digital audio, only from HDMI; I can't be sure.
