That's what I thought too but sky hd only puts out 2.0 on hdmi and the 5.1 over optical but when I plug both into the sat/cabl sockets on the rht-g950 it selects 2.0 on the hdmi.Also the ps3 has to be connected direct to the tv and the 5.1 sound comes out of the rht-g950 perfectly via the optical cable that connects the tv to the stand which is fine.The only way to get the 5.1 to work from the sky hd box is to get in behind the stand (not an easy job given the weight of the stand and tv) and unplug the optical cable from back of tv and plug it into back of sky box which is connected to tv via hdmi.Then the stand thinks the sound is coming from the tv.Then to use ps3 its back behind the stand again.I know this is the fault of the dumb <profanity removed by moderator> at sky/Amstrad who for some unknown reason decided 5.1 sound should not be sent via hdmi.If anyone any ideas I be most grateful.
