RDR DC505 recording and deleting probs

My DVD recorder DC505 very frequently freezes and skips when playing back progs recorded onto harddrive. This has always been a problem but lately it has becone much worse making some progs impossible to watch, hence my message.  It takes 11/2 to 2 mins to delete a prog. longer if a lengthy film.  In the meantime the machine cannot be used. Is this normal. When selecting from the 'Title List' it is slow to move from title to title and will not allow play until the picture has appeared which taked a long time. I hate this machine and cannot help feeling that it must be faulty. The last one we had (older model) didn't have any of these problems and deleted instantly.

if this happen with all progms recorded on HD, Looks like the the laser diode aging and need replacement , You may call sony service center.

if this happen with some progrs recorded on HD , looks like the HD have bad sectors and must be low level formated. To perform this , the HD must taken out and connected to PC. You can do it if you know the procedure or call sony service center.

I don't know if your machine is faulty or not, but my personal experience is that the DC series are quite slower in general compared to old model (HXD) in accessing the hard drive, especially when trying to delete files. It was signaled to Sony but no answer on that.
