playing DVDs from USA

My new sony DVD player does not play DVDs purchased from USA. I could play them on my old sony DVD player!

Whats up with this?

Hi,

there could be two reasons for this, firstly your old player was probably a region free model and your new player is not,

secondly check the disc you get from the states as some are region 0 and they will play in any machine but if your discs are region 1 then you will only be able to play them in your earlier machine
