Hi,
It does not seem to matter what I stream over DLNA, but it always only get 2 channel sound.
I check the file format Dix or otherwise and see that I have 6 channels of sound, but blueray player only ever plays it as two. I cannot seem to change that in a setting or anything.
Most annoying, because I have home cinema kit and the loss of channels is doing it no justice.
I have the STR-DH810 and KDL-46HX903. The TV displays it is using 2 channels and the receiver changes its channels accordingly, so it is definitely only playing two channels.
Anyone had this problem, or any ideas how to get it working?
Thanks,
SG.

yay, cracked it.....:)
after some hints from dradel i went hunting more.
so windows 7 seems to muck up mkv's probably because it does not know that codec.
it seems all the file types are under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Player NSS\3.0\Transcode
everyone shows "Audio Channels"=dword:00000002
i think maybe changing this would help, but cannot be bothered really. i would also like to to try creating a new key for mkv, but not sure i want to.
regarding vuze....it has the same error, it seems to transcode everything as 2channel, i think that is probably fixed to two channels in the bravia blue ray profile.
i could not get ps3 media server to work properly......i added, the .conf files, could see the files and none would play.
i ended up using serviio which worked for some files, but not others......2b fair, this was the best yet......I looked in the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Serviio\config\profiles.xml
and found the following line:
So it turns out there is an issue with video hanging after forwarding or rewind......i deleted the lines between
hay presto.....i cannot believe there are not more posts about this, but i guess most are using PS3.
ah well, it works now and if anyone else is looking, maybe they have a chance to find the post also
How are you connecting to the receiver? Possibly you may need to use a DLNA server that can stream Dolby Digital or DTS rather than transcode? Perhaps check the profile settings and transcoding settings. I use a patched version of PS3 Media Server with the BDP-S370 and can play DD and DTS over DLNA via SPDIF connection. The receiver detects it correctly.
Hi,
Not sure how the transcode works exactly, but I have tried win7 and vuze.
What I can say is....if I take a divx .mkv file on the usb stick and play it, then 5.1 is displayed correctly.
If I take exactly the same file and make it available for win7 DLNA directory, then for some reason the S470 sees it as mpeg (or at least it displays that, whereby mkv when with usb). There is only then 2 channel decoded :smileysad:. So it sees the S470 sees it wrong.
What do you mean about patching PS3 Media Server? I downloaded it, but the files do not seem to play via it.
Thanks for you suggestions so far,
SG

Great post Another +1 for Serviio - definitely my favourite DLNA streamer!
Thanks
