I have been advised by Sony horsham that I can get my surround sound sytem to work if I connect the optical cable to the sky box and then select optical in the sky sound setting. There is no option for optical, how do I get around this?
Hi,
lets see if we can help you out, we need a little more information on your kit, the main header of your question asks about the tv yet reading the rest, the horsham dealer speaks of your surround sound system, it is this im interested in, can you please tell us what this is?, before you do that can you check the back of it and say if it has an optical input please
I am connecting up a Sony home theatre system HT-IS-100 to a bravia KDL 40w2000. The HTS has an optical socket which in theory should go into the tv. This is where it all falls down as there is no optical input into the TV. I have connected the hts to the sky box but I can only get stereo and not any sound from the back speakers.
The set up I was advised is as follows:sky+ box opticalto subwoofer(sat in optical) then sky+ box hdmi to tv and then to select on the options for sound on sky box set as optical( mine only has mono or stereo)
Hi again,
the HT-IS100 has HDMI pass through so if your sky box has HDMI out, i think it has (i dont have one) then from sky box to the HT then from there to your tv, you should understand not all programs will be broadcast in Dolby Digital, most will be 2 channel stereo.
