HDMI Query

I have a query, so thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I have a Sony KD65 AG8 arriving this week (to be installed by John Lewis). I need to connect Sky Q, a Sony X800 Bluray player, and a Bose 300 Soundbar. The advice on the various Sony websites is confusing me. Only HDMI2 and 3 are enhanced, so how do I connect everything to get full 4K? If I put Sky Q into HDMI 2, and the Bose soundbar into the HDMI 3 (ARC), then that leaves only the HDMI 4 for the x800 bluray. But HDMI is not fully enhanced for full 4K. The x800 manual says use an enhanced HDMI, but I only have two and they are needed for the ARC (soundbar) and Sky Q.

Any advice? Should I connect the Bose soundbar using the optical lead? Will I lose any audio quality if I do that, or any functionality? Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hi @SpencerSmith

I would connect your X800 to HDMI 4. To be honest when I had my X800 connected to HDMI 4 there wasn’t much difference, if any. The alternative is to connect your X800 to the HDMI In on your sound bar. That is assuming that it is HDCP 2.2 compliant. The only difference with Enhanced is 10bit against 8bit. All four HDMI inputs are 4K. I bought a HT-ZF9 so both my Sky Q 2160 10bit and X800 connect to the HT-ZF9 then to the TV HDMI 3 ARC. Your connections are limited by your choice of sound bar.
