DVP-SR750H Cables dont fit

Help. I am about to go mad!

I have just purchased the Sony DVP-SR750H CD/DVD player.

I have followed the instructions but cant seem to get the .............thing going.

I have now spent far to long and so thought I would ask you.

Firstly when I connect the DVD to my LG TV, the cables which are the yellow, red and white ones at both ends dont fit securely. (They fit more securely on the TV than the DVD player which they came with) They just sit there very loosely and would fall out if the TV moved.

Then the TV dosnt seem to detect the DVD player.

I am not sure if I have set things up correctly coz the booklet doesnt really help at all.

Any advice please

Katie

purplekkkkt,

Hi,

do not worry about the cables that come "in the box", nobody ever uses them, sound advice from catmambo and the HDMI lead from Amazon is an absolute bargain, and this is the best way to connect equipment up.

Hi

Check to see if your TV has an HDMI socket . If its an LCD (flatscreen) purchased in the last few years then chances are it will. Then buy an HDMI cable - amazon have some good value ones available for under £10. This will massively improve the quality of the image and provide a much more secure connection.

Thanks

Thanks for such a quick response.

Yes the TV does have an HDMI socket.

But I cant believe that Sony are selling these with cables that dont fit and instructions that are not clear.

I am just trying to get this set up for my aupair and was hoping it would be a quick job. Not having to go and get more kit to get it going. (not an easy task with 2 kids in tow)

I am minded to take it back and try a non Sony brand, I am not very impressed with this product at all,

Hi

Normally the composite cables ( red, yellow and white) fit very securely as they clamp over the top of top of the female sockets, so make sure you have pushed them in fully. I've never seem composite cables loose, so do double check this.

Grab one of these anyway - for £1.20 it will improve the quality massively and obviously delivered direct to your home.

I have just checked the wires and they definately dont fit over the thingymyjiggys!

they just push up to them which is why they are so insecure,

all my other ones fit much more securely, but unfortunately dont have the 3 connecters at  either end.

Think this may be a fault?

Dear purplekkkkt,

The HDMI cable will provide you with excellent picture/ sound quality (may be double value) than the composite cable (yellow, red and white RCA). So if you give it a try to HDMI you will never back to composite cable connection again. the technology of reading and display picture on the screen are totally diffefrent.

Have a nice day.
