DAV-DZ111 / Bravia switching problem

I have a Sony DAV-DZ111 Home Cinema system connected to a Sony Bravia KDL-22EX320 TV via a SCART lead.

If I switch the DZ111 to DVD mode, it switches the TV to the correct input and shows the DVD / plays the audio (as I would expect)

If I then switch the TV to the Freeview tuner, I then have to switch the DZ111 to TV input before I get any sound (so the TV obviously does not send any recognisable signal to the DZ111 to tell it to switch to the TV input automatically).  Whilst I find this a little surprising, I can cope with that.  But at that point, I get the audio signal from the TV through the DZ111 - so the audio signal is obviously being transmitted via the SCART lead (the only connection between the two units).

However, if I leave everything as it is, but switch the TV to Internet TV / Radio mode, I cease to get any sound through the DZ111.  This presumably means that the BRAVIA does not transmit audio signals from anything other than the inbuilt Freeview tuner through the SCART lead.  I find this puzzling.

.

So to get over that problem, I connected the Audio Out from the TV to the Line In on the DZ111, so any sound that would come out of the Bravia now comes into the Line Input on the DZ111 (Freeview tuner, hard disk recorder, Internet TV etc.).

But what is driving me mad is that if I select a program on the Bravia and then have to switch the DZ111 to Line Input in order to get the audio signal via the DZ111, the DZ111 sends a signal to the Bravia which normally switches the Bravia input to AV1 (it depends on what the DZ111 was set to before).  This cancels my channel selection on the Bravia and I then have to reselect my program on the Bravia, which is quite tedious if I am trying to use the Internet TV / radio broadcast.

Is there any way to pair the two devices (after all, they are both Sony), so that the switching only occurs when the DZ111 knows what I want to do on the TV - eg: if I switch the DZ111 to DVD mode, it is reasonable for the Bravia to think that I want to watch a DVD and switch to the appropriate input.  But it is not reasaonable for the Bravia to switch to AV1 (which is a HDMI connection and unrelated to the DZ111) just because I select Line Input on the DZ111!

I am getting increasingly frustrated by this, so any help / suggestions will be VERY gratefully received!!!
