Hi, I've downloaded the firmware update for my BDP-S360 blue ray player, but cannot get nero to burn both the files as an image/udf disc. Do i need a different program or am I using wrong burning settings.
Have you tried IMGBurn? Free software and v good..
No didn't like the .bin file. I have two files downloaded one a .bin the other .ID somehow I have to ad these to the root of a udf dvd disc to burn.... I haven't a clue now.
Maybe just try updating it over the Internet. Just connect an Ethernet/CAT5 cable to the back of the BD player and then searc for network updates via the settings menu..

would have done that but it needs to be connected to the tv, so I'll need a 26 feet ethernet cable....
Hi,
what exactly did you do after you downloaded the update, it do not sound right, are you using windows 7 at all?, you have to double click the update file to extract the ISO file (to desktop) is best, you should see what looks like a blank page with a disc in it, right click that and you should be able to burn disc image by clicking it, click the verify disc after burning tab first then click burn, if your still lost do what Catmambo suggested and use ethernet to update it, if you decide to use the disc method read the instructions on the website first because if you get it wrong you may stuff it right up (pardon the pun)
I downloaded the zip/rar file and extracted it to a folder. there are two files, BD11-vud.bin and Sony_VUP.ID.
the instructions stae burn the files to the root of a disc using UDF mode. Nero only reconises the bin file to burn the image. so what do I do with the .ID file, is it not required? I have managed to burn both files to a bootable DVD but not sure if I fancy chancing playing it in the player. I think I will contact my dealer to see if they have a disc. Surely for a small fee, we would all buy a disc from Sony.
Hi,
i can see the confusion even i dont know what all that is!, just got to pop out but when i get bk i will have another look, download the file myself and see whats what for you.
well i downloaded imgburn and the update and unless we are all idiots i could not suss it either, took me a while with my old bdp-s300 but that was easier as it was an iso file!, just use an ethernet cable, you only need it for when you know of an update being available, be a lot easier and they are not expensive.

Many thanks for your efforts.... I feel sony have a plan.... get it connected to the internet or we will make it hard for you....
point taken :smileywink:. That said, the update process improves year on year, so you can connect current devices wirelessly or use USB drives as well as Ethernet, CDs, homeplugs etc as with newer devices being able to deliver things like iPlayer, many more people leave them connected.
