BDV-E780W issues

I took delivery of my new Sony 3D Blu-Ray DVD Cinema System (BDV-E780W) 4 days ago.

At first, all was fine but yesterday the system started switching itself ON while we were watching TV. Today has been even worse.  I have switched off the Party mode etc but it still does it. If I switch off the system it will switch itself back on about 10 seconds later.  If I am watching TV using the system for the sound all is semi Ok but if I’m not and I go to change channel on the Sky + remote it will switch the system back on with the Home page being displayed.

We thought we had the switching on issue resolved but obviously not.  Just to add another quirk while watching TV with the system used for sound, it automatically changes the input to HDMI4 which is the BD input/output.

I have a new 3D Sony 46” TV (KDL-46NX723), the Blu-ray system (BDV-E780W) and my Sky+ satellite box.  The TV is connected by HDMI to the Sky+ box then another HDMI to the Blu-Ray and the Blu-ray and the Sky+ by optical Cable. Is this set up right? Is this the problem?

Can someone help before I decide to get rid of the system and get a refund??

I purchased the BDV-E380 and KDL-46EX723 (same as yours except for the model difference i.e. "ex" vs "nx") and have they sky+ hd box.

When you switch on your tv, select "options" and navigate down the last item which says "speakers". select "tv speakers instead of "audio system". You must have selected the "audio system" and hence whenever you switch on the TV, the home theatre automatically swtichs on in "tv" mode with the sound outputting from the home theatre.
