My brother-in law (not on the Internet) recently replaced his old DVD player with an S185. His TV is analogue and the S185 is connected via the Video & Audio phono sockets to the TVs SCART socket. The player will only play Blu-Ray discs in Black & White, but DVDs play back in full colour. Is there something in the settings that he has missed? I've had a look and can't see anything obvious. FYI, the unit plays Blu-Ray discs in colour on my TV (via the HDMI port). Thanks in advance! Pete.

Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi
Likely due to the Blu-Ray player outputs at 60HZ and old TV's only work at 50HZ. So some newer CRT's will play a Blu-Ray properly but much older ones won't. Might be time to upgrade the TV also
Thanks
:smileyblush:Thanks for the explanation. This sort of explains my Brother-in-Law's comment that Region 0 DVDs played in B&W on his old player.
The TV has now been replaced and everything is working fine:- Many thanks for the tip!
