Sony CDX C4850R

Sony CDX-C4850R CD/Radio cuts out after a short time, but the speakers still hum. If I remove/replace the face plate and turn it on again, it works again for a while. I have cleaned the contacts but it made no difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I contacted Sony support 18th August. I received acknowledgement and am now waiting on a reply.

Meantime I have been trying to find the cause. I found that the cd/radio will work again if I turn it off for a while. The longer I leave it off, the longer it will work for. I reckon this eliminates faulty wiring and connections. The aerial stays up and the display shows the clock and the speakers make a deep rumbling sound but no signal gets through. It is as though some component gets too hot and fails then works when it cools down. I have now pressed the reset button to see if that sorts it out..........
