Transferring photos wireless

PlayMemories no longer works on my iMac (Catalina). Earlier I used the wireless transferring and it was very suitable. Will Sony come with an update soon, or is there other possibilities for wireless transferring? Thanks for help!

Hi @torefi, welcome to the community.

PlayMemories is in the process of being migrated to Imaging Edge and so will no longer be supported by new OS versions such as MacOS Catalina.

In principle wireless transfer should work with Imaging Edge, although I've not tried it, and the caveat in the above support link makes me think they are still ironing out some issues with it.

Cheers

yes I've just tried to install PlayMemories and it seemed to work but no icon appeared in the launcher.  Clicking on it in Applications gets a message that the developer needs to update its software to work with Catalina.

I have done some brief looking at Imaging Edge, and couldn;t see anything obvious for wireless transfer.  The desktop version seems geared to RAW processing.  The iphone version is very clunky and takes about a dozen keystrokes just to transfer one pic and that's trying to use NFC.  (And I haven't yet worked out how to transfer a full size Jpeg as it's going over at 500k)

This is really getting annoying.  Could someone at Sony comment please.  ImagingEdge does not seem to work with an iphone8 and a Sony RX100 mark 6.  (And it's why I bought the mark 6).  Sometimes I can get an image to transfer over but I need 8 hands and what should be a simple 'bump' turns into a major exercise to get the two devices to talk to each other.  Tried uninstalling ImagingEdge and re-installing.

Hi mike,

from what I've found, Imaging Edge is yet to be supported by macOS 10.15 according to this link: http://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/disoft/int/pcenv/en/contents/index.html

Judging by how recently Imaging Edge was released, it's a matter of time before it receives an update to support Catalina.

I have an rx10m3.
Is there any other way of transferring via WiFi to mac with this version of OS?
Is there no way of just getting it to come up in finder as an external drive?

Neither of the Sony software would download from M7 wirelessly and I spent an hour over the phone with Sony Customer Service and she couldn't make it to download. The camera also provide misinformation about the number and type of image files in the SD card.

Now my one month old camera with the SONY repair centre but they say it will take lot longer to repair. They refused to exchange or provide a date for return.

Reading the comments here, May be it's a design fault and Sony is refuse to accept it. I suggest all who have issues with WiFi connection contact Sony to rectify the situation.

Must admit had no success at all with any of these Apps, none of them seem worth the trouble so just take the card out of the camera and plug it into a reader attached two my MBP (running Mojave - haven't updated to Catalina - (even though my son flies one) having read so many negatives about it.

I have had similar problems transferring my photos to iPhone and iPad. Imaging Edge hasn’t worked very well since IOS 13. The recent iPhone update 13.3.1 has meant that the app has ceased working completely. The helpline advises that it won’t work until an upgrade but no date was forthcoming when this might be.
