When i set my camera DSC-HX60V to shutter priority mode, and then select a shutter speed of more than one second, every image i take just results i a totaly white image, you can´t see anything but white.
The longer shutter speed, the more white.
I assume it´s me doing something wrong, but then i need some guidance, i bought the camera because i want to shoot falling water with 3-30 seconds shutter speed but this is not working right for me.
Anyone feel like helping a noob?
Thanks
Its not a rare thing but just requires a bit more know how on what the camera is doing. Cameras themselves are pretty stupid because they do not understand what the subject is. What the camera is most likely doing is selection the sensitivity for you known as ISO. Usually an auto ISO setting will mean this may happen.
The best thing to do is go via the menu and select the lowest ISO possible. This will prevent the camera from overexposing (white screen). If that still fails, you may need to consider using filters such as neautral density filters. These pretty much are tinted perspex sheets similar to sunglasses making it darker. You place that infront of the lens and it simulates darker conditions. This in effect will help you stop getting overexposed photos.
Hope that helps.
