Long Delay In Picture Settings XE90

Hi,

For a few weeks now I've noticed that when I attempt to switch between different picture modes it takes roughly 10 seconds to load.

Pressing 'Action Menu' button, the menu loads instantly, but when you navigate to 'Picture' it takes 10 seconds for the next menu to appear.

Anyone facing the same issue or know how to rectify it? Wouldn't be bothered to try a factory reset and set all my picture settings again

Hi XabiAlonso1986,

The behaviour you describe is known to exist on different family models of Sony TVs. The delay is also correlated with the source type the TV is on when the Action Menu is triggered. On SD/HD non-HDR Digital Terrestrial broadcast sources the delay is at its minimum, while on 4K Dolby Vision HDR sources provided by native AndroidTV apps this delay is at its maximum. I can't tell as of yet if this issue will be addressed in a possible future update to the AndroidTV OS on Sony TVs, but at the same time I can't deny the chance for possible optimisations to reduce the delay in the future either.

So in short, do not bother to do a Factory Data Reset on the TV, as that will not alleviate the delay.

Cheers,

Dutchice

AFAIK, 'Google app for Android TV' version 3.3 introduced the issue. But there should be an update to 3.4 in the Play Store which fixes it.

Other ways to fix it:

- uninstall updates for 'Google app for Android TV' in Play Store. It will revert to v3.0 or v3.1 which did not cause the issue

- disable Bluetooth (will disable microphone in remote and therefore voice support)

I indeed can now confirm that the Google app for AndroidTV version 3.4 has resolved the issue.

Just another good example of how the overall performance of Sony ATVs depends often on external partners.
