Hi All,
I have had my Sony Android TV KD-43x8305c for over 2 years now and I loved it.
Unfortunately, I tried turning it on with my remote this evening and it would not power on.
The white light on the bottom of the screen turns on, stays solid for approx 15 seconds and then goes black again.
Nothing appears on the screen. It just stays black. Not even a flicker of life.
Things I have tried...
Unplugged all devices from HDMI / USB / Network (It was connected to WiFi anyway)
Nothing is connected to any of the ports now including the antenna (I was using HDMI to my Sky Box)
Disconnected all other devices from the wall socket.
Plugged out of wall socket for 1 hour and plugged in again.
Pressed and held the power button on the rear of the TV for 10 seconds / 30 seconds.
Still nothing. Still responds the same.
TV will respond to the remote as well as the button on the rear of the TV.
It just does the same thing.. - Light comes on for approx 20 seconds and then goes off.
Also tried downloading the newest firmware to a USB key and plugging that in to see if it will upgrade at boot time. -- No Joy
Any ideas?
I will phone Sony in the morning to see what my options are.
Bought the TV in Jan 2016 from Harvey Norman.
Here's a vid of what happens when I press the power button on the rear of the TV.
Cheers,
Doc
Hi Doc,
It sounds like your TV may need to be looked at. Have you managed to speak to anyone at Sony Support?
Best wishes,
Sean Mc
I've opened a ticket, but no response so far.

Hi @doccy1981
If your TV is Android 6 updated, you can try a forced factory reset. You will lose all your settings and accounts but it might work. Your TV does not Red Blinking so possibly there is no hardware issue.
Your TV is a Four button(according to Sony genius minds) but is really a seven buttons. Just find the Vol(-) button(don't make a mistake since most people confuse buttons) and the power button.
You find this only in Canada since Europe and Asia are lost in space since May:

and also check this video on Youtube:

You can also try to enter Safe Mode if possible:
https://www.sony-asia.com/electronics/support/articles/00127645
but I believe this is not possible since Google’s animation does not begin. Instead of "Reset the TV" on step one you can try unplug the TV then plug and try holding down vol(-) button
Hi Niall,
I did get it fixed in the end, but it required a trip to the repair shop. They had to replace the motherboard.
It was covered under warranty.
It was fixed by a company called TVAE near Cork Airport.
Very good service I must say.
