All,
For information there is a Planet Earth UHD HLG test video on the Beta iplayer which appears to work with the Android TVs. (Tested on my XE9005). Its pretty short but looks amazing. It was playing FA cup test loop video which didn't look as good and kept dropping out.
The FA Cup one just fails after about 5 seconds on my TV. Hardwired ethernet. Odd that the Planet Earth loop is fine....
Check it out.

Great that they've finally got it sorted. Maybe the whinging will stop now...
You say it as though the whinging wasnt valid? It took Sony long enough to sort this. If it works come Dynasties no whinging from me.
Some of the whinging was valid, some wasn't (IMHO!). People made it sound like Sony are the worst electronics company in the world. At least we do get updates for a 2 year old model which is more than many companies do. How come people are happy to pay >£500 for a phone (albeit disguised as monthly contract payments) which is out of date after 18 months, but expect any better from an equivalently-priced TV?
Anyway let's not re-open this again...
I bet YouTube 4k 50/60fps still isn't working 😞

I hear ya, although I paid £180 for my Moto 5G+ (sim free retail) and while its old now, its just got updated to Android 8.1. So no complaints from me on the phone front. I would never pay those kind of levels for a phone.
How do you know if the TV has the UHD update? I can't see any notification in the iPlayer app when In open it. My app was updated yesterday but it doesn't show UHD resolution as available.
