I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!
1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435
2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.
3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360
4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.
As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.
Hi guys, please can someone advise.
I own a KD-55X8509c. I'm a massive Sony fan but this TV is really starting to P#%^ me off. I've had myriad of problems (another story) but after the latest update my wifi won't connect to my router properly, it keeps jumping in and out of the signal. Has anyone else suffered with this problem? My router is in the hall and I have hardwired it and it worked fine but the wifi is terrible and it's only after this latest update. I can't connect to any of my apps and hardwiring permanently isn't an option.
i am seriously thinking about contacting BBC watchdog, for help and advise as the customer service is highly trained in delay tactics.
cheers

You say that permanently hardwiring is not an option, but your router must have a power supply close by and so must the tv so why not use a "homeplug" arrangement like these

I know its not the ideal solution for the problems with these tvs, but will these issues ever be solved, also hardwiring is always a better solution for streaming purposes.
Others have the same problem with wifi after the last update and are waiting for the issue to be resolved with a FW update. I connect via ethernet so don't know if I have the same problem as you.
Have you tried changing your router wireless channel? Following is from LInksys support.
The recommended channels for the 2.4 GHz network are 1, 6, 9 and 11 since they are considered non-overlapping channels. For the 5 GHz network, channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 are recommended to less likely encounter interference.
i have the 8509c, it stands adjacent to a wireless extender and I have tried it on wifi. It never worked well, if at all but fortunately the same TP link extender provides Ethernet connectivity which works like a dream.
Hi, I am wondering how is this tv performing after the last update? I noticed very few comments bering posted now, so i gives indication the things are progressing into right direction? Is it worth buying 49x8309 now? kindly advise

On the plus side, they are dirt cheap now.Ive seen the 55" for just over £700. But it's
discounted for a reason. Best of luck.
2015 TVs would be discounted. Its this time of year when retailers are clearing stocks to make way for newer models. I.e. 2016 models.
Hi guys, thanks for advise over the last 24 hours. I've done a factory reset and it has worked treat. It is a pain redoing all the passwords, settings and downloading my apps again but everything works fine or appears to. The whole OS is a lot smoother and more responsive, non of the apps have crashed. The Wifi is fine. So at the minute I am a fairly happy. I dont think you should have to do a FR after an update but if it works.
I didn't know about those TP link power line adopters. I like those. I will look into them
Thanks again
