I bought a brand new Sony 200-600 (serial number 1827888), and after 2 months of use it died. Stopped communicating with the cameras. I sent it to service, and they said the aperture is broken and needs replacing.
It's a new lens, which didn't suffer any trauma. It's my first Sony lens, has this happened to anyone? does Sony just produce crappy, faulty products that die after 2 months?
Hi Anthozoa,
it is indeed very unfortunate when such a lens fails after such a short time. But I am convinced that it is an exception.
I own some Sony lenses myself and I don't treat them very squeamishly. Some of them are already several years old and work reliably and without problems.
I am sure that the lens will serve you well after the repair.
Cheers
Peter
