A7R iv with Samyang 14mm f2.8 Mk2 - lens unsupported?

Hi there,

Apparently my brand new Samyang 14mm lens is not supported by the camera? Is it because it just came out or is it faulty? I can shoot when I turn off the lens attached setting in the menu, but I’ve never came across that error message before.

Any ideas?

Hi Daphne,

Was the camera working with this lens before?

If so, you might want to clean the contacts on the camera body and the lens carefully using a cotton swab.

If it never worked before then please check if the latest firmware is installed on your camera and also get in touch with Samyang to find out if they're aware of such problem.

Thanks Peter, 

both camera and lens are quite new, so I doubt it would be the contacts.

I also popped it onto the A7iii and the same message appeared.

As you suggested, I will contact Samyang directly, as it seems it is not my cameras.
