SONY XPERIA Z5 PREMIUM, NETWORK ISSUES.

Hi,

I have posted here before about having no vodafone signal when trying to make a call with my xperia z5 premium, which i bought from China. Well still no joy. The phone is useless as it is. It doesn't pick up the network at all. I was talking to a phone guy lately, and he said, that the phone probably needs a new chip, but if i use a 3 party one to see if i can pick up the signal, Sony will switch it off the minute the phone updates. Is this the case, and how can i get this phone to pick up the signal? I have tried the usual things, like Sony companion, etc.. and no use. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Hi, is your phone locked to a certain network operator?

Hi Jess.09,

Thanks for reply.

No, it isn't connected to a certain network, as far as I'm aware. It just won't pick up the vodafone signal. It does pick up the 3 network, as far as i remember. My guess is, whatever inside the phone/chip, that picks up the signal, is not compatible with this area. Maybe the chip is too dated? Funny thing is, when i go into the city, it works perfectly. All the reception bars pop back up, and I can then make a call so can't figure out why it doesn't pick up anything where I live, in the country. The reception where I live isn't great, but I have another Xperia phone, I bought here, and never had this issue with that phone, even with poor reception. I also bought a Nokia phone years ago, from China and never had this issue with that phone either. These Xperia phones were advertised as, unlocked for any network.

Another guess is, Maybe these  phones were only for the Asian, Indian market, and are not fully compatible with this side of the world? Cheers.

Yes exactly, this what came to my mind when you mentioned that you purchased the phone from China, some features are designed for specific countries this could be the reason why it won't connect to Vodafone network properly.

Hi again,

Can anything be done with it so? Any parts to be replaced so it can run here in Ireland? Thanks.

I suggest that you contact the support team for Sony, they could help.

Hi Jess,

Well that was a big fat waste of time, contacting Sony, AS I EXPECTED!!! The usual runaround, about the phone being non European, and that they couldn't offer a repair service, etc... !!! What the hell am i supposed to do now?!!! To be honest, i am sick of companies selling products and not standing behind anything, telling you to send it back to where it was bought etc... no accountability as usual!! I spoke to a guy who fixes phones, and he said that he could replace whatever part, but said, he couldn't guarantee it would work, he said it could work for a bit then stop working. What does that mean? I know this may sound nonsense, but could Sony switch off the phone when it updates, if i was to repair it with a 3rd party repair guy? Cheers.

Hi everyone,

Help!! Anyone out there, have any experience of buying an Xperia Z5 premium from China, and then, it not picking up the network to make a call? Realistically, can a part be replaced in this phone, by a 3rd party, so i can make a call? No point in me contacting SONY ANYMORE!! They are a waste of time. Just got the runaround. Any help here, would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
