XZ Premium Screen Noise Issue

EDIT 2:

I've seen a similar thread at XDA, take time to look at it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xz-premium/help/display-problem-pixel-grid-t3626522/page1

---------------------------------------------------------

EDIT:

Hi Everyone, I think what I'm having is called "Screen Door Effect". I've also checked other XZ Premium phones in stores and it seems the effect is present. Could this be because of 4K display rendering a 1080p resolution? Can this be corrected by software?

Thanks.

ORIG POST:

Hi everyone, I just wanted to ask if there's also a user that experience this kind of issue? The issue is about the screen having a noise when on a white background/image, etc. It seems like there's a horizontal lines on every white on screen.

Details:
Firmware - Customized HK, still on june security patch
Deepsea Black

Thank you

Hi @Eriche, I am sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

Try these methods one after the other. Verify whether the problem was solved after each method, before trying the next one.

  • Restart your Xperia™ device in safe mode and make sure that Developer options is not enabled. If Developer options is not available, continue with the next method.
  • In safe mode, your device only starts with software and applications that were already installed when you purchased your device. If the device’s performance improves in Safe mode, it’s likely that one or more of your post-purchase downloaded applications are affecting the device negatively. Proceed by uninstalling any interfering app.
  • If blue and purple margin lines appear on the screen, make sure that Show layout bounds option is not enabled.
  • Update your Xperia™ device to a new software version using Xperia Companion
  • Perform a factory data reset or perform a software repair using Xperia CompanionNote! Always back up all personal data before performing a software repair. All data in the internal memory is overwritten during a software repair. Content on an external SD card is kept.
  • Contact your retailer or your Local support team.Note! Before handing the phone over for service, back up all your data to avoid possible data loss. Data on the device may get deleted when examined. Don't forget to bring proper documentation, for example, proof of purchase and warranty card. The documentation required may vary depending on market, country or region. If possible, deactivate the Protection by my Xperia and remove the Google™ accounts on your device before sending it in for service or repair to prevent Protection by my Xperia or Google™ Device Protection from locking your device.

To disable Developer options

  1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
  2. Find and tap Settings Developer options.
  3. Drag the slider beside On to the left.

Tip: You can remove the Developer options menu from the Settings menu by clearing the data in the Settings application, see related article. Note! Other settings content/options may also be removed.

Turning off Show layout bounds Android™ 5.0, 5.1, 6.0 or 7.0 To turn off Show layout bounds

  1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
  2. Find and tap Settings > Developer options.
  3. Drag the slider beside Show layout bounds to the left.

Hi @CameronT, I've tried the methods that is listed, but still, the issue persists, I'm sorry I've said Horizontal, but it's actually Vertical lines. It's visible when looking at white background. There's still no update for Customized HK firmware. Is it because it's rendering 1080p resolution in 4k display?

Thank you by the way.

If none of the troubleshooting I have suggested above resolves the issue I recommend you contact your Local support team to arrange an assessment.

Hi @CameronT, I think I'm having a Screen Door Effect. Can this be corrected via software?

Thanks.

Would you mind sharing the photo?

I think I have misunderstood what you mean by noise @Eriche, you mean visual noise, not audible noise?

I don't think it can be resolved with software, but it's worth trying a software repair using Xperia Companion as a last resort. If it is software related, the software repair should fix it. If it does not, you should contact your Local support team to arrange a repair.
