WhatsApp Not Displaying Unread Messages

So I upgraded to the Xperia XZ Premium and I really like the phone. However what is really annoying me is that every time I get a WhatsApp message it does not display that I have had any un read messages. 

I have checked every single notification setting, uninstalled and reinstalled the application and even ran my phone through the Sony Companion Repair Service and still no luck. 

Any advice or please Sony run an update to fix this.

I can't replicate here I'm afraid, are you sure you havent accidentally long pressed on a notification and clicked the option to never show?

Easiest solution would be to backup WhatsApp with Google, and delete and reinstall app
