Phone went to default mode and back

Hi, 

I was traveling and my phone Xperia xz went to factory reset mode. All my data pics all gone, since I was on vacation I had to take the picture. I took in the default mode itself. I then restarted my phone I got all by previous data but lost my new pics and video and lost the ones I took 5mins before restart. 

Can anyone help me in getting the pics and video I took in default mode.

Could you clarify, what do you mean by default mode? are you referring to safe mode ?

I ment factory reset mode

That can only happen if you go to settings > backup & reset > reset the device, it can't be done by itself.
