So I downloaded the Sony developer software ( "Emma") from the sony developer software site onto my computer but it didn't register or recognize my xperia xz when I connected my phone to it. I am thinking because this only works with "unlocked bootloader" phones. The process to "unlock the bootloader" on the phone looks way too complicated and too risky!! I've decided not to try this.
So I guess the only way to enable the fingerprint scanner is to download the flashtool from a non-Sony website, aka Flashtool, and "trust this 3rd party website" that they are legit and won't steal all your precious personal infomation on your phone??
This is too much of a big leap of trust for me to take.

Come on SONY, can't you just provide a link to your website so we can download the UK or Canadian firmware to activate our fingerprint sensor .
This is ridiculous, it's 2017, and the Sony Flagship phone doesn't have an active fingerprint sensor.
I am not going to buy another Sony phone until this is fixed.
