Hey there,
the battery life is overall very good yet one thing strikes me. The battery use while sleeping / "Idle" is pretty high, too high if you ask me. After a whole day, idle is at ~20-25% battery use, right now, with battery at 74%, it's 21 %, 6h9m, 223 mah, what is fairly high compared to my LG G4, right now at 68% with 7h4m idle and 62 mah.
Bottom line, ~1,7% per hour is a lot .
Anyone else here with the same issue or even better, a solution to it? (And yes, I turned off all the unneeded Sync stuff)
This is what you should do
Charge the phone 100% > let it Idle > after an hour or two:
settings > battery > tap on the graph > what has been using the battery > take and post the screenshots here.
Hi @IlluX,
Please do as @uliwooly suggests, and additionally, do the same test in safe mode.
With that said, "Phone idle" is a standard Android behaviour. Your Xperia device consumes some battery just by being turned on, even if it is in a completely idle state. If the battery consumtion for Phone idle seems high compared to the battery consumtion of other features and applications, it is probably because the device has had many or long lasting idle periods. In this case, the battery will last longer than if the device was used more actively.
I just love doing a copy pasta of this But since it is a c/p some parts may not apply :
Now, reporting only battery drain means little to none. Some info is always needed so that the drain from the system or from the rogue app can be separated.
Basic troubleshooting could start with safe mode, where you will surely be able to separate those two. However, I'd personally leave it for a future step, as a I like to „solve „ or at least find out to problem in an as-is state.
One of the best tools to track wakelocks in a non rooted state would be battery historian . All it takes is that you have ADB set up on your PC. Instructions are also quite easy to follow :
-Connect your phone to your PC
-Start ADB
-Run : adb bugreport > filename.txt
-Upload that file to https://bathist.ef.lc
From there , you will be able to see what has been draining your battery, track unusual wakelocks etc. It will also help other users in helping you. Plus, almost any wakelock is Googleable so you might even learn something by yourself.Hint : go to BBS XDA thread, many wakelocks are documented there. There is also a thread for wakelocks specificaly on XDA.
If you go to https://goo.gl/8IhxS8 , you can see the original reddit thread, and thank the OP since his guide is really well made and this is just a shortened c/p from it. I also encourage you to read it fully as there are many more explanations there. OP really made a great effort there.
If you don't manage to resolve through this, safe mode is the next logical step (though it might be a first logical step to some )
From there you will at least be able to separate if it's caused by system or installed app. If the drain remains, I'd recomend
repeating the process above but in safe mode. It will make it easier to track.
2nd option and probably a bit easier is installing a Gsam battery monitor , giving it elevated privileges (well documented within the app) . For obvious reasons, this is not the option to use in safe mode
Oh, and personally, max tolerance for idle drain in about 8 hrs is 3% battery loss, anything above and I find it fishy . 1.7% per hour is waay too much.
P.S. You should also probably check how is your WIFI and data connection signal wise as it influences battery greatly.
