Hi @ducksonetime,
I can see what you mean and I will make sure to forward it as user feedback!
Yes, as you mentioned the Xperia answering machine featured in some of our devices is currently not present in the X series, but I have forwarded it internally along with your other suggestion!
Glad to hear that you're enjoying the phone!
If like me you constantly check your phone during the night try installing Screen Filter from the Play Store meantime...i simply tap the app before bed to dim the screen to a brightness level that you have chosen, this may help till hopefully the update you would like comes along.
Standard Android offers Voicemail and Call Forwarding options under Settings -> Call. For some reason these options are missing from Xperia XZ. What happened? Why did Sony remove them?
Here's the situation: I have installed Google Voice on my XZ and asked it to re-configure my Voicemail options to make Google Voice serve as my voicemail inbox. After playing around with it, I'd like to switch back to the default voicemail service of my cellular provider.
In a typical Android phone I can just go to Settings -> Call -> Voicemail and ask the phone to swicth back to the provider's service. The phone will do the rest automatically. But in XZ it is impossible since these settings are suddenly gone.
Why are they gone? And how do I switch back to provider's voicemail now?
Settings > Call > voicemail > what do you see here?
is your phone network branded/SIM locked?
Xperia XZ does not have "Settings > Call > Voicemail". And no, my phone is not carrier-branded. It is a plain unlocked F8332.
Some models in X series that has that option deliberately removed for some reason. See here

Somehow Sony decided that these settings are tied to "Xperia answering machine", while in reality these are plain Android settings.
