Wireless charging for Z3 compact ?

Hi,

After looking during hours for a way to charge my Z3 compact by wireless, one conclusion stroke me :

> There is no accessory or Qi case or whatever to wireless-charge the Z3 compact.

Some could say  there are the micro usb basic port or the magnetic dock charger.
Absolutely, but both have their issues (micro usb access only by opening the cache and obvioulsy fragilizing it and taking risk, magnetic docks issues some devices " loosing " the magnetic strip)
Both of those issues eventually might cause troubles for the IP certification though.

For these reasons I'm desperatly searchig for a Qi case (like the Z3 one) or a Wireless charging station.
Or any information about a new feature from Sony about this.

Thanks for replying...

There maybe 3rd party cases available but understand that these cases work by connecting to the magnetic charging port on your phone

Actually I meant without using the magnetic dock (as I explained why before), kind of stuff like the custom case for the Z3 :

Those are great solutions, if there was a same case for the Compact...

For now all that's available is the charging dock and I've been using one for over a year every day on a Z1 and Z Ultra without issue

Hi Thommo is speaking about either the DK48 Magnetic Charging Dock which fits your phone or the DK36 for the Z2.......have a look at them in the Accessories part of the main page.....:smileyhappy:

Hello,
I wanted to chime in and say that I have 4 magnetic adapters and use them daily... The strip on the phone seems really robust and as a mechanical engineer I would guess that the people having issues is because they pull the charger perpendicularly to the phone, but the best practice would be to take it out at an angle (as if you are breaking a cracker)... This is actually simpler and not even annoying to remember and my phone is still waterproof, I can confirm.

Also the magnetic charger allows you to confortable use your phone while charging, I doubt that with a Qi solution.

In my opinion the magnetic strip allows for more third party options and is superior to wireless, both on implementation and in efficiency...

Anyway I hope you find what you are looking for...

I was glad to hear this from a mechanical engineer. I also heard the issue that the strip gets loose when magnetic cable has been used.

But I actually bought one and I use it always in charging and like he said, when removing the cable, I snap it off instead of pulling it away from the phone.

Also I had a magnetic cable which has low magnet force and I guess it's a +1 in my PoV.

I currently have 5 or 6 QI-chargers, spread around in the car, in the living room, in the bedroom...

The lack of a QI solution is what is currently stopping me from getting a Z3 Compact.  The regular Z3 is a bit big, and the Compact looks and feels perfetct in all other ways.

Because we have "standardized" on QI, and that curerently works great for borh my last and current Samsung device, and for my wifes Xperia Z1, I really dont want to get a bunch of new chargers.

So a QI-case for the Z3-compact, like the one for the regular Z3 would be a really great add on, and would make me get both the phone and the case..

And hopefully Z4 Compact will get built in QI as well...
