Sony Ericsson WT19i Android Walkman Phone keeps restarting

Hi, i recently bought a new Sony Ericsson WT19i Android Walkman phone from Dubai. I started using the phone in Bangalore, India sice last 5 days. The phone has been continuously restarting automatically when kept idle or shuts down while talking on the phone. Is viited a Sony Ericsson authorised service center to get this fixed. I came to know that the warranty is invalid in India & i will have to pay for the service. When i gave it for checking the issue, the service engineer returned saying it has been Purchased from Abroad, if the software is installed the network would get locked. He also mentioned that the software varies from country to country which was surprisng to hear. My provblem remains same & I pretty upset that my new phone is not working.

Can anyone suggest a solution for this please. Thanks-Prasanna.

oh i dont think its a sim or network problem at all coz my phone restarted even without a sim card...my phone's getting worse by the day. sometimes after the restarts a lot of functions like the camera do not work. but recently i found this app called Easy Battery Saver on the market and it kinda helped reduce the restarts, the problem is it keeps turning on the wifi by itself. but it definitely helps in conserving the battery power, jus switch off the wifi when u notice it

Sony Ericsson WT19a have the same issues. It reboots at least 4 times in an hour and sometimes it power off by itself. This is a real problem because you cannot trust is the phone is on or off. I will wait a couple of weeks to see if there any real fix to this problem, before returning it. I was considering upgrade to another SE but I have read that other Xperia phones face this issue. I cannt believe how this company sell this product with defects affecting consumer confident in the Brand.

A heartwarming update:

I brought the phone to the service center explaining them the problem. After 2 days i went to get it, expecting them to admit that the phone had problem and giving me a replacement. But no, the service/ repair "experts" said after 6 hours of testing the phone had shown no problems. So i got the noob treatment. The one where the service employe knows all and the customer knows nothing. I told them again the phone was faulty, while they were giving me the phone back saying it had nothing wrong. Not only SE sells us faulty phones, in this day and age, but they are not taking them back!.

Now im thinking, i have to do the service guys job for them. Not only have i wasted my money on a piece of sh*t, not only i find myself without working phone for over a week, i have to spent time proving it.

I spent hours holding a camera over the phone waiting for a restart to happen. NOTHING. While on camera, the phone works perfectly!. (Like a politician) When im not recording (driving, running errands) the phone restarts like hell. Im thinking the f***er is playing with me.

Now im trying to figure out what causes the restarts, so i can recreate, if i can, the circumstanstances and finally capture the restarts on camera. I found out that in my case (11W45) the situation gets really worse when the phone is in my pocket. Since there is no way of any button being pressed while the screen is locked (pattern lock enabled) im thinking SENSORS. Proximity Sensors. Im thinking maybe these f*ckers are faulty, or wired wrong, so instead of disabling the screen when talking to the phone, they make it restart when they detect no light. (Thats why in the video the sensors side is in the dark.)

PS. i even sent an email to SE explaining the situation that i have tried the things they suggested in the mail sawarage posted (http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/138293#138293)  I get the same email. Word for word!Even after i told them i had tried those steps, my email wasnt even read by them. So im thinking again, if its true what they said, that this restarting issue is not a  known problem, WHY they have an automated message for this problem specificaly ?

i'm from the philippines. i've experience also the same problem from day 1 of purchase. i bought my lww last january 8, 2012. my phone restart whenever i put it in my pocket. and also on idle display. i can use only my phone after i turn it off and turn on. then when i open an application it restart over and over. then i saw kevinkj's post. then i start looking for update. then i found one at wotan server but for middle east only. then i search and search and found that the latest  4.0.2.A.0.62 is somehow succesful in fixing the rebootingt bug of the lww. so what i did was to flash using wotan server bcoz i can't wait for the pc companion here in the philippines coz i'm really desperate to fix it. as early as 4 am this morning i flashed it and was successful. 8 hours now it doesn't have any restart problem.i change the cda for generic trade middle east north africa(arabic) but it's ok bcoz now my lww live.

Ditto here. Used Wotan to update the firmware to 4.0.2.A.0.62. No more reboots.

Hello Everyone... i was facing the same problme from day one... My phone restarts 4 times a day until we switch off the phone and remove the battery. Yesterday night i did factory reset with clear SD card and then i connected to PC and formated my SD. after that.. Till now (more than 24hrs approx) there is no restart yet... i have to wait for some more days to see is the problem permenetly fixed or not..:smileyplain:

hey, how did you flash using wotan? will this erase data on your phone/sd card? i registered and it says its service is free right now but it also says i have too few credits to use any of the offered services. help! it's getting annoying! i'm guessing factory reset won't do any good as other users have tried it already so i don't even wanna go there. it's restarting more often than usual. i notice it also happens after you've just charged the phone.

It does not solve the problem.

Installation of any software, resume restarts.

The problem in the firmware device. SE is not officially recognized.

I have of course seen the issue or reboots since I've been quite active and keep track of that thread in our own forum. I can however not recall the tethering option to be a working solution. Fully possible someone have said it before but I can't remember that.

The software version we release to fix the reboots with is called 4.0.2.A.0.6x.
The global roll out will start next week."

If you know anything could you let us all know. If not then I will be sending my phone back and if that does not work then maybe issue a writ in the small claims court this does not cost much. Maybe we should all undertake a joint one here on the forum for UK users.
