[Sony Doesn't care this at all] WiFi Status locked, cannot change or turn off

It looks like this is a general problem after ICS upgrade for Sony Xperia phone.

I didn't have this problem before even in worse firmware 6.1.1.B.1.10, but after using 6.1.1.B.1.54 two weeks, I have the problem now...

I can connect to AP after boot.

After use for a little time, the process "wpa_supplicant" start running, and never stop, just like the screenshot below (right-top corner).

Screenshot_2012-12-15-23-49-44.png

When the process "wpa_supplicant" is running, I can neither turn off the WiFi, nor make any setting change about WiFi.

What I can do is reboot.

It looks that the WiFi status was been locked by this process.

According the information on the web (reference), this issue can be fixed after delete the file /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant_bagscan.db. (rooted required)

But this file will automatic generated by wpa_supplicant, so the same problem may happens again.

Is there any way to fix this issue without rooted?

hahahha. I agree. It will take longer to some people. But its very easy for me: Found another way. ROOT required.

Download ConnectBot, connect localy:

them:

- su (to be superuser, it will change from $ to #

them

- ps | grep wpa

- kill process

Ill try to make a bash script to automaticaly force it to shutdown.

I like this method. Only take me 1 minute, and wifi goes back on

Johan. Almost 3 months ago you said you would forward this problem for investigation. What is the status of this issue? Have you reported it? How is it progressing?

I have sent you a PM and you have not responded, or even acknowledged my message.

I think Sony forget this problem at all...

Please do not ignore us.

The only answer we get is "why do you open another thread ?"    Why ?? because you simply ignore us - we need to know that you - first, working on it right now, and second, to get some kind of time estimation when this will be solved.

We need to know If this will not be solved in the very near future - because in this case we will need to find an alternative (buy another mobile, get the money back from shop, and make sure everyone knows about sony behavior so no one else will make the mistake we did).

Again - we are not against Sony -all we need is to know that you plan to solve it in the near future

Please  respond and talk about the issue itself (and not about the fact that you ahve already transfered the problem to someone and why we open more and more threads)

Thanks !

Why is this thread marked as "assumed answered". It needs changing to "not answered".

I want to know how to change the status, too...

But, who can change that?

MOD. Please revert this question to "Not Answered" and please update on the status.

BTT.

Have sent PMs to Aimee and Johan now on this one and not had an acknowledgment.

I started a new disccusions asking Aimee and/or Johan for a status update. This was never answered and has now been deleted - presumably by a mod.

Yesterday I reflashed the phone with PCC and had to reinstall all apps & data at great inconvenience. If this wifi locks up again (as I expect it to) then I will be returning the handset.

We're sorry for the delay and we're not ignoring you or this problem but at the moment we don't have any new information. This problem has been forwarded but is still under investigation. As soon as we get new information we will update this thread.

Adding new threads about the same problem only makes it harder to find the information you're looking for when searching the forum.

Regarding "Assumed Answered" and how we use it, please read the discussion guidelines:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/1046. For solutions there's a "Correct Answer".
