Restore is missing data

Since getting a new replacement Xperia Z phone I set up a restore and contacts have not restored, nor have the apps, and widgets etc

@willako Where did you set up the restore? Using Xperia companion or backup and restore app?

I suggest you try out Xperia Transfer

Hi @willako,

Could it be that your contacts were synced through an online account such as your Google account?

Xperia Companion will only backup local data so if your contacts weren't restored together with the backup this indicates that they weren't saved locally.

It could be but it gets confusing knowing what is syncing with what sometimes!

I originally did a full backup form phone to my laptop.

If you just want to verify if your contacts are saved to your Google account you can sign in to contacts.google.com. If your contacts are visible here then they are synced with the account. You can then add the account to your phone through Settings > Accounts > Add account.

There are many different kinds of accounts that you can save and sync contacts to, Google being one of them, so it's possible that they might've been synced with another account. Normally when you add a new contact you are asked where you want to save it.
