Replacing SD card with larger size under Android 6

The SD card (32Gb) in my Z5C is almost completely full, so I've purchased a 200Gb replacement. With Android 6 the path to the SD card is no longer sdcard1 but is now the serial number of the card (eg after upgrade to 6.0.0, my SD card path changed to being 9C33-6BBD and no apps that had used the SD card for storing their data would run, as they could no longer find the path to the data; I had to perform a factory reset and install everything again),

With this in mind, I think that using an external machine to clone the existing SD card to the new one will not work, as the serial number will be different and apps will again not find the path to their data. Is this correct?

If it goes purely by serial, no it won't work.
