My Z2 turned itself off today and wouldn't switch back on, when i got home i connected the charger and the led is lit solid red, i have left it on charge for 6 hours,  no key combinations are working and the phone is totally unresponsive.

Help please !

tried that, and tried all key combinations, no response.

In this case please try running a software repair (this can be done with the phone powered off):

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

Hi, tried this solution when i got home from work but still noting, the only sign of life is the red led with the usb lead connected, this extinguishes as soon as the lead is removed.

In this case I can only advise you to speak with your local  Xperia Care team regarding having an assessment arranged.

the handset has been returned to sony for repair, it was received at the service centre on saturday and as yet i have not heard any further news, i will update as and when i have further information.
