Proximity sensor issue during calls.

During calls my screen flashes on and off  which has lead to both me accidentally muting the mic , ending calls and accidentally putting it on loudspeeker. it only does this during calls . i cant turn the screen off with  the power button as it just ends the call. 

at the moment i have a screen protector on which was supplied with the phone , could this be the issue ? also if not can you give me suggestions on fixes. Thanks

how to find a rule that makes the proximity sensor to operate only during the call?

You must create 4 more rules, 2 for enabling rules screen on and screen of when call active and 2 more rules to disable rules screen on and screen off on call end (Composite AND Trigger). Composite AND Trigger (25 points) and Sensor trigger (25 points) you can get by earning points after software recommendation and installation or you can buy Pro version of this software
