Problems with GPS on Z1

Hi,

I have searched this forum and couldn't find anything that was helpful to me, so I started a new post.

The GPS on my Xperia Z1 hasnt worked for a while now, I was hoping system updates would resolve it or it would fix it self somehow.

I have read GPS, here's where I'm at:

  • System update tells me its up to date
  • Data is enabled
  • Location services are on
  • Uninstalled a Realtime service Tracker - didn't help
  • Downloaded 'GPS Test' - didn't tell me a lot
  • Tried purging the assistance data, still could not get a fix on location
  • Rebooted the phone into safe mode and tried testing GPS Location using Service Tests and it still wont find a location.

I'm wondering if maybe its a hardware issue? I did have my screen repaired a few months ago, I cant remember weather or not my GPS worked since then. Maybe they bumped something inside? They gave me a 2 month warranty so I doubt they will have a look at it for me without charging.. and of course for some stupid reason I'm only doing something about this 3 months later.

Anyway hopefully its not hardware and there is something that I am missing.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Sorry to hear that your GPS is not working.

When you start GPS Test, does it show GPS on in the top left? Do you get any reception bars in the blue box below where in says "In View"?

If you tested this with free sight to the sky i'm afraid it looks like there's something wrong with your phone.
What you also can try before contacting a service location is to reinstall the phones software using a computer to make sure it's not a software problem.
You can reinstall the software using PC Companion. Select Support Zone -> Software update -> repair phone.
