Issues with navbar buttons & autorotate

Hi everyone.
My Xperia M2 has been doing a great job since I've purchased it a year ago. However, yesterday its navigation buttons have stopped working. Tapping them does not cause any response. Tapping the touchscreen area directly above the buttons works perfectly well. I've done a bit of searching regarding the issue and made sure of the following:
- That the device has no screen protector on it
- That the device is updated to the newest Android available (according to Xperia Companion, that is the case)

I've attempted the following:
- Resetting the device
- Running the device in safe mode
- Restoring the device's software via Xperia Companion's repair tool

Due to the above not working, I would normally head to a service center for assistance, however after restoring the software as described in the last step the navigation buttons worked! The initial setup wizard worked just fine (its "change page" buttons are located where the navigation bar resides) and for a total of approximately ten minutes, I was able to use the buttons with no issue. Afterwards, they reverted to their broken state. This made me confused as to whenever this issue is software or hardware related. The hardware was clearly able to receive my inputs.

A workaround I've read that seems to be working with Z series phones is to turn the phone into landscape mode. I've always used my phone vertically, but after trying this trick I found out that with autorotate turned on the phone simply does not rotate its screen, no matter how much it is spun around. This I only realized after restoring the software, and am unaware of a software reset temporarily fixes it.

What can I do to further diagnose the issue? Is there a way for me to access the touchscreen output directly (so I can check whenever this is, for instance, some built-in software intercepting it?)

Edit: Using the forum on Chrome is a bit problematic, it seems... my newlines were gone. Seems okay now.

Hi @jorbar_vi,

I'm very sorry to hear that.

After you performed the software repair, in the 10 minutes that this worked, did you install anything in the phone or restore any data? If not, my guess is that what you are experiencing is related to hardware rather than software. In that case I recommend that you contact your Local support in order to have your device sent to and examined by an authorized service centre.
