I am trying to restore a backup file to my phone and it is showing an estimated time of 500+ hrs for the past 1hr. anyone else faced such a problem before? any suggestions on how to get this done?
now after 2 hours, i cancelled it and tried to redo it again but it says that the backup was done in a newer version of software than the one i am using now so it can't be restored! i am using the latest version of android available...i don't get it!!
Update: I don't get this error everytime. i tried to restore it now(next morning) again and i am not getting this error.
This could have happened in one of these cases: either your backup file is very large (includes your media files and it will take ages to restore) or it has been done on an older firmware and now it is not compatible.
ok....i'l try restoring only the contacts this time...When you say 'very large', what kind of file size are you talking about?
Also, I had restored it on the previous firmware. but i don't see how that should matter. Maybe only the settings are not compatible?
Restoring a backup made on a different firmware is not possible unfortunately.About the size of the backup,I am talking about tens of GB (I remember someone with a backup of 15 GB or somewhere around that).
