Hi All,

I have purchased Sony Xperia ION (LT 28) from India.

Since few days backside camera picture quality is very poor and images looks foggy when captured in sunlight area / when enabling flash light.

There is no issue with front camera.

For this issue I visited to Sony service centre, who replied due to scratches on camera lens it’s happen without even properly checking device , and directly asked me to pay Rs 1500 – 2000/- to get this repair.

I have purchased this costly mobile and service I am getting is not worth.

Could any help me out to sort out this quickly as soon as possible?

Find atatched sample image from same phone. Result is same if select 12M , / 2 Meg pixel size on camera.

Well, if they say it's scratched there isn't really much I can do to help. The service center is the ones that examine the phone. Just by looking at the picture I'll have to agree that it does indeed look like a scratched lens. You could contact your local Xperia Support for more information:

Just remove the Sticker on the Back camera. New piece is having sticker on the camera. New piece is not having any scratches. Because branded items will check perfectly before delivery.

Hi Samuel,

I have done some basic troubleshooting and those results some improvement.

After taking phone backup, reset phone to factory defaults, unexpectedly saw good photo quality.

But still am not happy with this as phone is having 12Mega pixel camera and comparatively I am not getting sharp image that are still distorted, dull and grainy, this is same situation with & without LED flash. If the more pixels, the more details a picture can have.

So if this could be a lens problem then how it returned to some better quality picture.

Also suggest me if there is any provision to get lens cleaned from service center.

Hi Samuel,

I'd bought an Ion around 3 months ago and it came with a sticker on the rear lens which I removed after a few days.

My camera is unable to focus and the service centre says it is a problem as the lens is either scratched or there is a fungal problem. They said it has to be replaced and would cost Rs. 1500

I'm totally disappointed in a premium phone suffering from such an issue when other cheaper, less reputed brands don't have such a problem.

I would be very happy if Sony can offer me a permanent and viable solution. I feel I have been given the bad end of a deal.

Same issue with my mobile and i purchased before 2 month ago ( This is in warranty ?)

Flash also very bad rather than any samsung mobile.

please suggest what i need to do ??

Hey monoj there iz no issu wid camera lense its d problem with software in ics if u upgrade some firmware in ics..I hv also same problem when you take a pic its too blurry..actually its a software problem n u can fix it by updating to jelly bean..I m from India and before 2 days ago I update my xperia ion LT28h ics to jelly bean through Sony pc companion..u can try it n definitely u can solve this problem by urself...thanks

dude i am running on jb in my ion last mont i updated...
few days ago my ion cam also got blurred...
and i can see that there is some thing on my cam glass... scratches, and the glass colour is turned light blue...
its not a problem of os is harsware problem

I'm also having camera issues, and I think it's because of scratches on the lens as well. I am running ICS, but I hear the JB update will give the same problem. Taking pictures of text or projector images are just horrible and focusing the camera takes forever. My c905a could still take pictures better than this Ion can now. Is the lens part of the back cover or the camera and is it possible to order replacements? My phone is older than a year and I really don't want to pay for a job I can do myself.
