Since i have bought my xperia SP i have been facing lot of issues during calls. Sometimes the volumne of the caller goes so low that i cannot hear them, sometimes the clarity of the call is so bad that it becomes frustrating. Also the opposite person faces lot of problems hearing my voice. Majority of the complaints from callers are of lot of background noise coming from my end(even though i am sitting at my home with almost no sounds in the background) and very low voice or as if i am speaking from far behind. So basically neither i am able to hear the opposite voice clearly nor the person on the other end is able to hear me clearly. this is very frustrating. Everything else of this phone is nice but the call quality. Also, i have observed that with the flip cover on, the disturbance on the other end is very very high.. such problems dont occur in S3 (my husband has one). Is this a software issue of a hardware issue? i have seen many posts with same kind of issues. Is any fix available for this?
P.S. i have tried all possible combinations available in call settings
Sorry to hear that you're having bad audio during calls.
I recommend that you first check so that you or the flip cover you have is not covering the secondary microphone (on the back below the flash) during calls but if that's not the problem i recommend that you contact a service location for assistance with this problem.
I'm also facing the same problem. I've tried updating the software, re-installing the OS and factory reset but the problem still persists. I'm yet to visit the Sony Service Center.
Note: I am not using any flip cover. The in-call voice is dead low that you always have to find a closed room to speak with somebody over the phone. This is VERY VERY BAD & FRUSTRATING. :smileyangry::smileysad::smileycry:
Come-on SONY, this is very basic thing that you have forgotten to check before releasing the phone into market.
From what you're describing it sounds as if there's a hardware problem in your phone and i suggest you contact a service location to have this investigated and fixed.

I have the same call quality issues what others are describing. Reading those I understand that Sony mobiles don't have good call quality which is a basic feature. Whereas the same call I took in a Samsung Grand, its call quality was awesome. This explains everything. Leave alone Samsung, you take any other mobile device, the call quality is far better than Sony Mobiles. Unfortunately Sony Mobile Xperia models like SP are all prices above Rs 20,000, it is shame for Sony Mobile manufacturers that they can't provide even basic call quality feature in thier product inspite of taking huge cost.
