broken screen on xperia x8

I want to access contacts on the phone memory to transfer to new phone. sony pc companion recognises the phone -says welcome xperia x8, but says its incompatible with xperia transfer. the other apps, like contacts setup require you to do things using the phone screen in order to proceed. any suggestions? [MyPhoneExplorer doesn't recognise the phone/ connection at all] animator_

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Unfortunately Xperia Transfer doesn't work with Xperia X8. Do you have a google account in your phone? If you have, it's easier to transfer the contacts via this account. Another alternative is to transfer them to the SIM/SD card.
