So, I had to repair my phone due to the earpiece volume issue.
I used the back up and restore app - which to me doesn't seem to do a lot?
I expected:
My launcher and app icons etc to be restored
Google Keyboard to be re-instated as my default
Facebook, Twitter etc accounts to be set up (I had to resubmit passwords)
Theme to be reinstalled
Quick settings to be returned
I already copied my pictures to an external drive so that doesn't matter
All I can see that it has done are:
Text messages returned
Ringtone returned
Wallpaper returned (although I'm not sure this was deleted.
The Backup & Restore app seems pretty pointles to me.
You're right, It doesn't do too much. I kind of hoped it would be like Apple in that it takes almost a carbon copy, even replacing apps in folders etc.
I still do the back up, as some is better than nothing at all.
Yeah, it was at least good to get my texts back (although I have another app for that anyway).
You should have used PC companion,it is a little better. But this is how it goes on Android, apps will be restored from google play with your account.
PC Companion wasn't much better last time to be honest. And it took a ridiculous amount of time (I mean hours!).
Yes,you have to select what to backup (exclude media because it will take ages).Just copy media files manually.
