After the 9.1.A.0.490 update, I sometimes experience loss of audio after unpluging my headphones. It's really bugging me that I miss calls because of this.
Same issue here on Androir 4.1.2, build 91.A.1.140. problem existed with the previous software version too.
Hi,
Same problem for me. It happens also on 9.1.A.1.140.
Note that this doesn't seem to be a hardware issue! Because I am using SmartConnect with "Music on the go" profile. So when it detects that I am disconnecting my headphones, it performs some set of actions (stops the music etc.). And this set of actions always happens! Which means that the headphones removal is detected correctly. But the loud speaker is not always enabled. Seems more like a software bug.
Some details about my case:
- I updated the phone directly, without PC Companion. So it doesn't matter.
- When the issue happens, Function Validation app also shows that the speaker is not working (no sound).
- The issue is rather critical - you need to check it every time, otherwise you miss both calls and alarm clock...
Now the question is whether we can collect any debugging info to help Sony investigate this.
What I actually do is, pause the sound before unplugging the earphones, this is rather awkward, but this is the only work around as of the moment...
Hi Primark,
I do the same as you. I pause the music prior to unpluging the earcphones, however it doesn't work every time.
Yeah, it doesn't work for me too. The issue still persists.
Can anybody from Sony show up and indicate that something will be done with this issue? Because it is rather critical, it is easily reproducable, we are able to test it and gather all the required info... So can we get support for this?
UPDATE (May 08): Actually now I see that if I OPEN the Walkman app, press pause and then unplug the headphones - the issue doesn't happen. You have to OPEN the app - pressing "pause" on the lock screen or on the widget won't prevent the issue.
I am really sorry that nobody from Sony replies here. I thought this brand would provide at least some kind of support to the customers...
Hi Samuel,
It happens almost every day on my Xperia V with the latest 9.1.A.1.140 build. Very easily reproducible on my phone. I am using headphones, not headset - I think it might be important, because the phone detects it differently.
I use the pre-defined "Music on the go" profile for SmartConnect and built-in Walkman app - all native, nothing is 3rd party. Whenever I remove my headphone, the music stopps as expected, but the loud-speaker is not always enabled. So I have to plug the headphones again and then unplug them - until the loud-speaker enables.
Can you please try the following:
- Plug in your headphones. The music will start.
- Now keep listening and let your phone sleep (just keep listening for 10 minutes, for example).
- Now unplug the headphones. Check if your loud-speaker works.
I suspect it can be related to the sleep mode - that's why it's hard to reproduce it when you just plug and immediately unplug the headphones.
Thanks.
Go to your app drawer and open the app named "smart connect"
now switch to events tab and pull all the switches to left (therefore disabling them)
There, problem solved.

Nope. That was my first thought. But I have the same issue even without SmartConnect profiles.
P.S. And by the way, even if it WAS true, this would be a bug that should have been fixed...
I am using fw 9.1.A.1.140 and having the same problem, it does not happen every time but that is the problem, you don't know when will it happen. Sony please fix this problem.
Hi all,
I have found a solution to all the problems I've experienced with my Xperia V. I have sold it and got an iphone. God luck in your struggle.
