Contacts problem

I backed up all my contacts in a .vcf file but when I try to import them it tells me that the format is not supported. How can I recover my contacts? My cell phone is a xperia xa f3113.

Normally there should be no problem.

Google syncs your contacts and much more.

That is to say; only when you have given permission to Google to do so.

Check:

On your computer open https://contacts.google.com/

Generally speaking: Let Google do the syncing for you. Better safe than sorry.

On contacts.google.com on your computer point at the cogwheel in the upper right corner.

There you will see "undo changes"
