I use my WH1000XM2 Bluetooth NC headphones with an iPhone 6s using iOS 13 software installed.
They had worked together very well for 1.5yrs and with different software updates on both devices.
Today, for some unknown reason and for the first time, my headphones started to power down after 15-35 minutes usage. The headphones were charged to medium level.
At first, I believed this was down to an iOS for iPhone update, installed yesterday. I did many things, including resetting the headphones to factory settings and repairing, but the problem continued.
I also connected my headphones to my MacBook Air, but they too powered down after 30 minutes, proving that the iPhone software update was not the root cause for my headphones powering down issue.
Does anyone have a fix for this annoying, power down problem?
Problem fixed.
it wasn’t easy.
Note:
Apple Notifications for App Store updates is not working (it’s enabled on my iPhone), so I was unaware that the Sony Headphone Connect app had been updated from 6.0.1 to 6.0.3
I decided to restore my iPhone. All the apps reloaded, but importantly, they did so to the latest revision, in the case of Sony Headphone Connect, this is 6.0.3.
Using iOS 13.2 beta 2 with v6.0.3 of Sony Headphone Connect has solved my problem. Music played for 2 hours without any power downs.
Update the Sony Headphone Connect app to 6.0.3
Hello @BritPaul,
sorry to see, that your post went unnoticed.
Though I am happy to also see, that you could resolve your issue AND share your solution with the Community.
I am quite certain, that some day in the future someone with the same issue will look for a solution and stuble upon your post.

If I’d known about v6.0.3 I would have updated it immediately.
The Apple Store update notification is not functioning - enabled on my iPhone - so I knew nothing about it.
i just raised a concern for the update notification issue with Apple.
Hi IamNic,
Long time no speak!
I am still an Apple Beta tester and am the proud owner of both WH1000XM2s and WH1000XM3!! The love.
IPhone beta software is now at iOS 13.4 beta 2.
After a period of relative stability, I installed iOS 13.4 beta 1 onto my iPhone. Almost immediately, I started to get disconnections and connections from my XM2s. Things still aren't great using 13.4 beta 2.
I’ve raised 3 issue reports on Apple’s Feedback platform:
FB7579657 with system diagnostic file.
FB7592391 with system diagnostic file.
FB7594074
-Wifi speed is good between 30-50 Mbps.
-2.4 GHz Router with automatic channel change. WPA2 AES security.
-Sony Headphone Connect v 6.1.5
I haven't changed anything other than updating the iOS to 13.4, unfortunately.
Could you please assist with your contacts at Sony?
My love of music is being interrupted by the love-hate relationship between iPhone’s iOS 13 and Sony’s Headphone Connect app.
Thanks,
Paul.
My WH1000XM3 headphones drop out as well.
