Does anyones WH-1000XM2 headphones have a slight sound in them when on noise cancelling? For me it sounds like a very very distant waterfall.
I never use the Sony Connect app any longer as I already have my MX2 setup as I like. A few months ago I started to notice the hissing.
As Richo21 suggested, I went into the app, turned Adaptive sound on ... changed the setting back to #1 and then turned it of again. (it was set to #20 but I do not know why?)
Now the hissing has gone, all back to normal.
I had the WX-1000XM3 and was impressed with the noise cancelling. I now have the WH-1000XM4 and am very disappointed because I do now here this hiss of a what sounds like a rushing stream. Looking at the app, the previous post doesn't mean anything to me.
If someone could shed some light, that would be great. Otherwise I'll just complain to Sony.
Try using the NC Optimizer in The Headphones Connect app. It's also recommended to switch NC off if you're in a quiet place.

Open the Sony Connect app
There are 3 tabs, Status / Sound / System. Select the Sound tab
In the Ambient Sound Control panel, activate the feature. Move the slider to any new setting and then turn the feature off.
Repeat this step but put the setting back to Noise Canceling before turning the feature off again.
I hope this makes sense!
