IN MY VAIO LAPTOP Y KEY IN THE KEYBOARD NOTWORKING....

AND ALSO MY DVD WRITER IS ALSO NOT WORKING...

HOW CAN I SOLVE IT AND HOW MUCH WILL IT BE CHARGED IF I SENT IT FOR REPAIR....

SINCE I AM A STUDENT IT'S NOT POSSIBLE TO SPENT MORE FOR REPAIRS...

CAN ANY ONE SUGGEST ME HOW TO RECTIFY IT ..

i'm was just curious to know how all this happened? seeing that you've just joined the VAIO Club i assume you've just bought the notebook.

Hi shiva21h,

Unfortunately your model is usually shipped with the DW-D56A optical drive. Sad to say that this particular dive has proved to be a real donkey as a search of this forum will reveal. Check whether Device Manager is reporting any problems with the drive, otherwise try the firmware update from Vaio-Link but I don’t really think that this will have any effect as the drive is more than likely dead.

The ‘Y’ key not working could be either a cable problem or the keyboard itself. Both parts are available from
Nexttronics.
