When I start any Java Application the screen gets black!!!!

When I start any Java Application or running a web site which includes a java applet, the screen gets black. It seems to me that the java application does change the screen resolution to a not supported one.

Installed and reinstalled Java Version is 1.5.0_06.

All updates done.

Welcome to the forum,
Do a system restore to a time before this started giving you grief. Also run a virus scan. Panda online scan picks up most and instead of buying it just delete the files it points to in the scan results. Once everything is working again turn off and turn back on your system restore as viruses lurk in there to wreck the party later.
