VGN-FW31J with Targus 2 USB Hub

Hi All
I love my neew Sony but am finding that plugging in my Targus dock mutes the sound. I use iPlayer a fair bit so it's very frustrating. I have checked volume controls and mute isn't ticked - any ideas please ?
